Why Now?

Best Practices…. A simple philosophy, but worth billions.

Our industry is under attack from the government to the environmental front, to the average American, and the question is why shouldn’t we, as an industry, police ourselves and put in place the tools that we need to lessen the fuel for the fire?

In our global search for oil and the use of it in the production process brings us to the environment. We cannot continue to do business as we have done for the past century. Both economically and environmentally, things must change and there is a better way to both have better economics and steward ship of the environment. They run hand in hand.

Nature has been doing this for millions of years by using one of the oldest forms of life on the planet, microbes, and they WORK. Many industries have been slow to embrace change, others have been rapid. The food you eat and the golf course and city park you play on are probably treated with microbes in one way or another, it just makes sense. It’s cost effective and natural, 100% organic with no adverse reactions whatsoever.

So why hasn’t the O & G industry jumped on the wagon? It’s something new, with a new learning curve. It is proven but not widely used, why? Change in a well established industry is not easy. Acceptance of new techniques is not used readily because of established practices and cost basis analysis. O & G knows what it’s going to cost and knows how to use the old practices. Learning something new, planning for something new and implementing something new is difficult to do.

Unfortunately we are creatures of habit, even when a better way is more useful than the way we are doing it now. Change takes time but in the long run it is our endeavors that are more successful and our environment is better off… It would seem that new technology and practices would be better in the long run to protect the environment and reduce costs of production and our global negative foot print. The black eye so to speak… It’s all about green and the public perception and our ability to effectively treat industry by-products to quell the ground swell of discontent
