Our Process

The Microorganisms
The microorganisms we employed are selected and further cultivated from environments around the world where significant microbial activities have been observed. These organisms are screened with specific compounds and blended together in the communities for enhanced activity. At this point in the process, our biocatalyst is applied to increase the activity and growth of the microorganisms with accompanying increase in capabilities for microbial degradation and other desired and results. As both the microorganisms and catalyst are natural products, no side effects related to public health are indicated.

The Biocatalyst
Our biocatalyst has two recognized properties which combine to increase microbial activities. The first is the ability to build a saline tolerance within the microbial community. Repeated tests with mixtures of microorganisms show that the microorganisms are active in salinities up to 20%. Secondly, our observations lead us to believe that the catalyst provides oxygen at the cellular level to the microorganisms. This is recognized through experiments in which the cultures, grown with the catalyst, continue to be highly active under anaerobic conditions.

The catalyst is so effective that continuous cultures of microorganisms can be grown on specific substrates without sterilization. The resulting cultures have a viable cell concentration of 109 cells per milliliter and the harvest, in the form of dry powder, has a concentration of 1012 cells per gram. The harvest of microorganisms in dry powder form shows little loss in viability and a shelf life of one year.

The Nutrients
To optimize microbial cell growth of our bioremediation process, a proprietary blend of balanced inorganic nutrients is included in the process. These nutrients are formulated from highly purified raw materials. The proper amount of nutrient will be added based upon the total hydrocarbon concentration. This will allow sufficient metabolism of the pollutant. We will apply this amount to the site through time in phased doses, thus avoiding nutrient overload or damage to the biota from excess nutrients. the proprietary nutrient blend contains essential inorganic nutrients needed for metabolism of crude oil and crude distillates. The nutrient formula is periodically reviewed based on improved understanding of microbial metabolisms and biomass production technology. The nutrient blend is custom formulated to our specifications.

ENVIRONMENTAL MICROBIOLOGY
Biotechnology will continue to develop as one of the outstanding industry performers. Many experts in the field believe that there are ecological limits to the application of genetically manipulated as distinct from naturally occurring material in our society. Most of the new biotechnology ventures which have attracted great attention in the past several years rest on genetic engineering approaches to the commercial opportunities. While recognizing the major scientific significance of genetic manipulations, we have elected to pursue a course based on naturally occurring microorganisms.

Our philosophy is that the adaptation of microorganisms already found in nature, I.e. environmental microbiology, offers a reasonable, economic, scientific and public policy alternative to many situations where microorganisms will be applied to an open environment.

APPLICATIONS

    In-Situ Treatments
    Waster Water Plants
    Ground Water Treatment Systems
    Enhanced Oil Recovery
    Oilfield Reserve Pit Cleanup
    Sludge Tanks in Manufacturing Facilities
    Drill Site Cleanup
    Lagoons
    Oil Spills
    Storage Tank Cleanup
    Soil Contamination

The process originated in the oil patch and is a natural for hydrocarbon cleanup. The process can be performed on-site with a minimal amount of equipment, and, therefore is ideal for environmentally sensitive areas.

Additional Benefit
Our Process is effective in high salinity conditions, up to 20% (sea water is 3%) and in temperatures up to 140° F.

APPLICATIONS
Waste Water Treatment Plants: We have had considerable success in improving the efficiency of waste water treatment plants. Our process aids in reducing the volume of sludge produced and improves settling. The operators comments have been improved settling, less odor, quicker recovery from overload, etc. Electrical savings are also achievable through our process.

Drill Site Cleanup: Reserve pits from drilling operations can contain hazardous materials; i.e.: solvents, diesel fuel, barium, chromium, etc. To dispose of these wastes can cost from $10,000 to $250,000 per site. Our process can reduce this cost approximately forth (40%) percent.

Manufacturing Plants: Cutting oils, solvents, pipe thread dope, hydraulic oil, diesel, etc. accumulate in the soil in and around metal working shops. Rain run off can contaminate local streams and water supply. Over a period of years the soil could contaminate the ground water supply. Our process can eliminate the organic wastes and confine hauling costs to metals and inorganic materials.
Oil Spills (Contained oil spills i.e.): Lakes, lagoons, ponds can be treated on the spot with a minimum of equipment. Spills in open waters require oil to be gathered. In all cases shorelines can be protected and cleaned through the our process.

Waste Fill Sites: Waste dumps can be eliminated or if they must be operated the our process speeds up degradation.

Storage Tanks: Tanks of all types collect residue in the tank bottoms, this is particularly true in oil and gasoline tanks. Our process may be applied directly into the tanks to eliminate oil crusts, sludge and other residue.

Enhanced Oil Recovery: This was one of the original applications for our process. The bacteria are injected directly into the well. One well injection can impact up to ten (10) additional wells. Production is increased 20-40%. Stripper wells or older fields have the most potential. A side benefit is the reduction of paraffin in the producing lines.

The Oppenheimer Formula
The Oppenheimer Formula has been listed on U.S. EPA . National Contingency Product Plan Schedule since 1991 and with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. To find out more information please contact us.
