About Us and Microbes

Louisiana Bio-Environmental Services Inc. has over 20 years experience in marketing a superior blend of naturally occurring, non hazardous, nonpathogenic microbes and microbe “enhancers” that are utilized to break down a wide assortment of organic materials. These materials include petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated compounds, and animal and vegetable wastes (fats, oils, and grease). The “enhancers” mentioned above are various products provided by Louisiana Bio-Environmental to help our microbes access and utilize oxygen and water.

Our products are used to clean up hydrocarbon soil and water contamination, breaking the complex hydrocarbons down into simple non-toxic components eliminating the need for more expensive conventional solutions like dig and haul. By removing the hydrocarbons from the soil, it also eliminates the cradle to grave responsibility of the contaminated soil and water

Advantages of Our Products

Our products are highly concentrated blends of microbes housed in a bentonite clay matrix. Some of these products have as many as 100 billion microbes per gram – more than any other currently known microbial product. This allows for lower volumes of product to treat areas where the competition must provide large doses of product with inferior microbial counts.

Hydrocarbons are the world’s primary energy source. With the demand for oil so high, and the human factor involved in the production, refining, transportation, and end use of petroleum hydrocarbons, spills, unfortunately, are inevitable. The question is how best to clean up the spills after they occur. Nature has this down to a science. Wherever there is a natural oil seepage on the earth, nature has placed oil degrading micro-organisms (microbes). These microbes use the oil as a food source, breaking it down into its component parts, making a potentially harmful substance harmless, even beneficial.

Nature is able to clean up after itself, but it takes time. It’s a slow, natural healing process; nature’s own pollution control. The problem is that mankind now puts far more hydrocarbon pollution into the environment than nature can remove. Science has devised ways of speeding up nature. By adding certain materials to a contaminated environment we can speed up the rate of natural degradation. If the proper microbes are not present, the remediation will be delayed.

There is one unalterable fact. In order to have hyper-degradation (faster than normal) occur, there must be a minimum of 1,000,000 oil degrading microbes per gram of contaminant to supplement the indigenous population of microbes. Anything less and the bioremediation process becomes a very slow one. So it all boils down to a numbers game. In this case, the more hydrocarbon degrading microbes present at the site of the spill, the faster and more efficient the remediation process.

In the case of our formula, that amounts to well over 100,000,000,000 microbes per gram of product and since growth of the microbes is exponential, the pollutant is quickly and efficiently degraded, resulting in a faster closure of the site. In both cost and time, the savings are considerable and this is why treating with our microbes is the natural solution.

In addition, our microbial products have a broad variety of microbial species – capable of dealing with and destroying a large variety of contaminants.
